My Trainer Yelled at Me (And Here’s Why)

Have you ever had one of those days where everything clicked?

The sun shines just the right way. Your coffee is just the right temperature. Your kids (if you have them) are just barely murdering each other.

Peace. Bliss. Nirvana. Whatever you want to call it, it’s awesome when it happens.

I had one of those days recently, but not for the reasons you might think. In fact, my “bliss” included me sweating profusely from pores I didn’t even know existed.

There I was, in my neighborhood gym, throwing a 20-lb. medicine ball 10 feet in the air while our coach, Reggie, yelled at me for going too slow.

“Justin! Do not drop the ball again!”

He terrifies me. Why? Because he looks like this when he lifts weights:

Reggie will end you.

I, on the other hand, have the coordination of a newborn gazelle and the strength of a jar of mayonnaise.

The workout was hard and miserable and I was the last one to finish. But I had bliss. Why? Because with every drop of sweat, I was earning income. $4,554 to be exact.

$4,554. In one hour. All while I was (willingly) sweating my brains out, far removed from anything work related.

The next logical question might be, “how?” But that would be the wrong question.

In this case, the “why?” is most important. The “why?” in this case is simple: because life is too short to be stuck living by someone else’s rules.

See, I had built a product, sold it, and then set it up to automatically deliver to the good folks who purchased it. I wanted the freedom to “work” and earn income no matter where I was. We had team members at the ready to address any last-minute questions or problems, but the majority of my work was done well in advance.

I’ve used the formula numerous times over the past year to earn income while I was working out, playing with my kids, going on a date with my wife, or even sleeping!

If you’re anything like me, this scenario can conjure up images of late night infomercials and scuzzy get-rich-quick schemes. Blowhards with nothing to actually sell, just slick marketing and a non-stop sting of buzzwords.

But here’s what I know: I was in a job just a few years ago where my yearly salary was $33,400. While I was thankful for my job, I knew a salary of that size would be a massive limiting factor for some of the dreams I had personally and for our family:

  • My wife wanting to be a stay-at-home mom
  • Moving to a house with a little more room for a family of four (and, someday, five)
  • Setting my own agenda for the workday
  • Freedom from the “9-to-5″ grind

Now, thankfully, most of those goals have been crossed off the list or near completion.

The journey has been long and painful and filled with mistakes—but it’s been worth it. I have become convinced we all want this type of freedom.

We weren’t meant to live life according to someone else’s plan. You were meant to craft your own future.

You have dreams, wants, and goals, too:

  • Creating your own schedule
  • Doing work that matters to you personally and to the world around you
  • Unlimited earning potential
  • Freedom in your day to do…whatever!

…You just might not have the tools to get from where you are now to where you want to be.

That’s why I’ve created the Think Digital Masters Class. It’s the “step-up” from Think Digital Academy, our social media coaching program. It builds on the foundation our members receive and equips them to go to the next level and build the life they want.

You’ll get the coaching, tools, and resources you need to build an audience and earn income whenever and wherever you want. Because, let’s be honest, most of the dreams we have revolve around giving or receiving income.

If you’re ready to start crafting your future, please take a moment to fill out this quick application for the Masters Class. I’ll show you the same formula and system I used to breakthrough the $33,400 bubble.
