- It’s gumbo season in the Wise house. I always wait until we have a full week of projected highs in the 60s before making the first batch. It just tastes better that way. In case you’re wondering, my dad passed down the world’s greatest gumbo recipe to me. I will pass it onto Finn. Tomatoes, green peppers, sausage, chicken, onions, celery and…a special ingredient that I will take to my grave.
