Love the question. Too often, I think people take up the &quot;I&#039;m taking my ball and going home!&quot; mentality as employees. That&#039;s never helpful.

I like how Seth Godin puts it in &lt;em&gt;The Dip&lt;/em&gt;. He says to get a &quot;plan of attack&quot; in place well before any decisions have to be made. So, in an instance like this, you make it clear that in six months from now you&#039;ll be expecting such-and-such from so-and-so. If those expectations aren&#039;t met &lt;em&gt;or&lt;/em&gt; negotiated, then it would be time to move on.

But the key is having the plan in place and making sure all parties involved are aware of the situation &lt;em&gt;well&lt;/em&gt; before any decisions need to be made. That way no one can claim ignorance.

A major challenge for the employee is that leaving is not an easy thing to do. And from a Christian stand point, I feel we have a responsibility not to leave our boss in the lurch, but help them replace my position(at least that seems like a servant/loving kinda thing to do).

But if they&#039;re taking advantage of us &amp; not compensating properly, how do we leave in love? Or how do we threaten to leave, in love? (haha, but seriously).
