I had the pleasure of presenting at SPEAK: The Church Online last week. Myself, along with Kevin Hendricks, Kyle Reed and Darrell Vesterfelt, led the discussion about the Church and her online future.
I asked the question of church communicators, “Are you a shotgun or a laser?” Are you unfocused and simply trying to blast as many people as possible with your message? Or are you focusing in on very specific, yet highly powerful message that's able to go further and do more than the “shotgun” approach?
Of interest to me was the fact that we had more people attend online than we did in person. While SPEAK was billed as a regional event, held on the gorgeous North Central University campus in downtown Minneapolis, we ended up having a national audience. I, for one, loved this model. Hope to see more of it!
I wanted to put you in touch with a few resources from the evening in case you were unable to attend:

Other Links of Interest
- Here is a link the Communications Grid I referenced in the talk
- Here is a post of Kevin Hendricks' talk from the night. It was easily one of the best church comm talks I've ever heard.
- Here is a link the first half of the talks.
Were you in attendance? What did you think? Where does your church or organization stand within the communications pyramid?
UPDATE: Nicely, nicely. We've finally got the actual talk uploaded. Check it out below:
